Teaching kids Pottery

Standard

The start of the year has been pretty quiet on the making front but after coaxing myself into the workshop I’ve gotten back into the swing of it. For the mid-term break I decided to do a pottery activity with the kids in the out of school care I work at. It was intended to be a simple valentines day activity of making clay hearts but the kids had other ideas and wanted to get creative. So I decided to make it a proper lesson and showed them how to make little pinch pots and how to scratch and slip. Some of them really took to the techniques and made some really good wee pieces. Most importantly though, they all had fun!
